The Old Man and the New Neighbour
A young man named James moved into a neighbourhood and was told by some of the neighbours to avoid Mr. Thompson, an elderly man who lived next door. “He’s grumpy, and he never talks to anyone,” they said. Mr. Thompson’s house was old and run-down, and his clothes were always simple and worn. James, thinking Mr. Thompson was unapproachable and unfriendly, decided to keep his distance.
One day, however, when James’s car broke down, he found himself stranded in front of Mr. Thompson’s house. Mr. Thompson noticed and immediately came out to offer help. Despite his age, Mr. Thompson had a toolbox and was able to fix the car quickly. Afterward, Mr. Thompson invited James in for some lemonade and they had a great conversation. James realized that Mr. Thompson wasn’t grumpy at all—he was just reserved and had a lot of wisdom to share.
Moral:
Don’t judge a book by its cover—first impressions can be misleading, and people often have hidden qualities that make them worth getting to know.

ஜேம்ஸ் என்ற இளைஞன் ஒரு பகுதிக்குச் குடிபெயர்ந்தார். பக்கத்து வீட்டில் வசித்து வந்த ஒரு வயதான மனிதன் திரு. தாம்சன். அவரைத் தவிர்க்குமாறு அக்கம்பக்கத்தினர் கூறினார் .”அவன் எரிச்சலானவன், யாரிடமும் பேசவே மாட்டான்” என்று அவர்கள் கூறினர். திரு. தாம்சனின் வீடு பழையதாகவும், பாழடைந்ததாகவும் இருந்தது, அவருடைய உடைகள் எப்போதும் எளிமையாகவும், அணிந்திருந்ததாகவும் இருந்தன. திரு. தாம்சன் அணுக முடியாதவர், நட்பற்றவர் என்று நினைத்த ஜேம்ஸ், தனது தூரத்தை வைத்திருக்க முடிவு செய்தார்.
