THREE LITTLE FRIENDS
Once upon a time, in a small village, there were three little friends named Anna, Maria, and Naina. They were known for their curious minds and adventurous spirits. One sunny afternoon, while playing near the village pond, they found a beautiful, sparkling golden coin lying on the ground.
“Wow! Look at this coin!” Anna exclaimed, holding it up in the sunlight. It glimmered and shone, and the three girls marvelled at its beauty.
Maria, who was always quick to think, said, “We should keep it! It could buy us all the candy we’ve been dreaming of!” Naina, on the other hand, looked worried. “But what if it belongs to someone? What if they’re looking for it?”
The three girls sat down to think. Maria insisted, “No one will know. It’s just lying here, and we found it first. We deserve it.”
Naina, still uneasy, replied, “I think we should tell someone. Maybe someone lost it, and they need it back.”
Anna, who was the most thoughtful, said, “Let’s not make a decision right now. Let’s go to the village square and ask if anyone has lost a coin.”
When they reached the village square, they saw an elderly man walking by, looking distressed. He was the village merchant, Mr. Kumar, and he looked as though he had lost something valuable.
Anna stepped forward and asked, “Mr. Kumar, are you looking for something?”
The old man sighed and said, “Yes, I lost a golden coin. It’s very precious to me, as it was given to me by my grandmother.”
Without hesitation, Anna, Maria, and Naina looked at each other, and with one voice, Anna said, “We found a coin by the pond. Is this yours?”
Mr. Kumar’s face lit up with relief when he saw the coin. “Yes, this is it! I thought I had lost it forever. Thank you for being honest.”
As a reward for their honesty, Mr. Kumar invited the girls to his shop and gave them each a small, sweet treat as a token of gratitude. The girls felt proud of their decision to return the coin, and they learned an important lesson that day.
Even though the golden coin was tempting, the girls chose to do the right thing, and in return, they received more than they could have ever imagined.
The moral of the story is: “Honesty is the best policy.”

ஒரு காலத்தில், ஒரு சிறிய கிராமத்தில், அண்ணா, மரியா மற்றும் நைனா என்ற மூன்று சிறிய தோழிகள் இருந்தனர். ஒரு வெயில் மிக்க மதியம், கிராமத்து குளத்தின் அருகே விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, தரையில் கிடந்த ஒரு அழகான, மின்னும் தங்க நாணயத்தைக் கண்டார்கள்.
“ஆஹா! இந்த நாணயத்தைப் பாருங்கள்!” என்று அண்ணா கூச்சலிட்டு, சூரிய ஒளியில் அதைப் பிடித்தார். அது மின்னும், பிரகாசித்தது, மூன்று சிறுமிகளும் அதன் அழகைக் கண்டு வியந்தனர்.
எப்போதும் விரைவாக யோசிக்கும் மரியா, “நாம் அதை வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும்! நாம் கனவு காணும் அனைத்து மிட்டாய்களையும் அது நமக்கு வாங்கக்கூடும்!” என்றாள் நைனா, மறுபுறம், கவலையுடன் காணப்பட்டாள். “ஆனால் அது ஒருவருடையதாக இருந்தால் என்ன செய்வது? அவர்கள் அதைத் தேடினால் என்ன செய்வது?”
மூன்று சிறுமிகளும் யோசிக்க அமர்ந்தனர். மரியா, “யாருக்கும் தெரியாது. அது இங்கேயே கிடக்கிறது, முதலில் அதைக் கண்டுபிடித்தோம். நாங்கள் அதற்கு தகுதியானவர்கள்” என்று வலியுறுத்தினார்.
இன்னும் பதட்டமாக இருந்த நைனா, “நாம் யாரிடமாவது சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கிறேன். ஒருவேளை யாராவது அதை இழந்திருக்கலாம், அவர்களுக்கு அது திரும்பத் தேவைப்படலாம்” என்று பதிலளித்தார்.
மிகவும் சிந்தனையுடன் இருந்த அண்ணா, “இப்போது எந்த முடிவும் எடுக்க வேண்டாம். கிராமத்திற்கு செல்வோம், சென்று யாராவது ஒரு நாணயத்தைத் தொலைத்துவிட்டீர்களா என்று கேட்போம்” என்றார்.
அவர்கள் கிராமத்தை அடைந்தபோது, ஒரு வயதான மனிதர் துயரத்துடன் நடந்து செல்வதைக் கண்டார்கள். அவர் கிராம வணிகர், மிஸ்டர் குமார், அவர் மதிப்புமிக்க ஒன்றைத் தொலைத்துவிட்டார் போல் இருந்தார்.
அன்னா முன்னோக்கிச் சென்று, “மிஸ்டர் குமார், நீங்கள் ஏதாவது தேடுகிறீர்களா?” என்று கேட்டார்.
முதியவர் பெருமூச்சுவிட்டு, “ஆம், நான் ஒரு தங்க நாணயத்தைத் தொலைத்துவிட்டேன். அது என் பாட்டி எனக்குக் கொடுத்ததால் எனக்கு மிகவும் விலைமதிப்பற்றது” என்றார்.
தயக்கமின்றி, அண்ணா, மரியா மற்றும் நைனா ஒருவரையொருவர் பார்த்துக்கொண்டனர், அண்ணா ஒரே குரலில், “குளத்தின் அருகே ஒரு நாணயத்தைக் கண்டோம். இது உங்களுடையதா?” என்றனர்.
அந்த நாணயத்தைப் பார்த்ததும் திரு. குமாரின் முகம் நிம்மதியால் பிரகாசித்தது. “ஆம், இதுதான்! நான் அதை என்றென்றும் இழந்துவிட்டேன் என்று நினைத்தேன். நேர்மையாகச் சொன்னதற்கு நன்றி.”
அவர்களின் நேர்மைக்கு வெகுமதியாக, திரு. குமார் சிறுமிகளை தனது கடைக்கு அழைத்து, நன்றியுணர்வின் அடையாளமாக ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் ஒரு சிறிய, இனிப்பு விருந்தை வழங்கினார். நாணயத்தைத் திருப்பித் தரும் தங்கள் முடிவைப் பற்றி பெண்கள் பெருமிதம் கொண்டனர், மேலும் அன்று அவர்கள் ஒரு முக்கியமான பாடத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டனர்.
தங்க நாணயம் கவர்ச்சிகரமானதாக இருந்தாலும், குழந்தைகள் சரியானதைச் செய்யத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தனர், அதற்கு ஈடாக, அவர்கள் நினைத்ததை விட அதிகமாகப் பெற்றனர்.
