Thenaliraman and the Theives
Tenali Raman was one of the most important ministers in the court of King Krishnadevaraya, who ruled Vijayanagar.
One day, King Krishnadevaraya and all other court members were alarmed by the theft occurring in the village for the past few days. Everyone was worried and thinking the way to catch the thieves.
On that evening, when Tenali was heading back to his house from the palace, he noticed two people hiding behind a tree in his garden. Tenali was silent and went inside the home thinking to teach a lesson to the thieves.
Once he went inside his house, he shouted in a loud voice and said to his wife, “There are thefts happening in the village, and we must safeguard our jewellery. So, lets pack our jewels and drop them in the well.”.
On the other hand, he silently whispered about the thief’s presence to his wife. Tenali and his wife filled an iron trunk with stones and dropped it inside the well.
Later, both of them went inside their house. Noticing everything, the thieves started pouring the water from the well to take the jewel out of the well.
After some time, they got exhausted and suddenly heard a voice saying, “That’s all the garden has been watered.” Its Tenali. Now the thieves were caught by the wisdom act of Tenali Raman. And henceforth, no theft occurred in the village.
தெனாலிராமனும் திருடர்களும்
விஜயநகரை ஆண்ட மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவராயரின் அரசவையில் இருந்த அமைச்சர்களில் முக்கியமானவர் தெனாலிராமன்.
ஒரு நாள் மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவராயரும் மற்ற அனைத்து நீதிமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களும் கிராமத்தில் கடந்த சில நாட்களாக நடக்கும் திருட்டைக் கண்டு கலங்கினர். அனைவரும் கவலையடைந்து திருடர்களை எப்படி பிடிப்பது என்று யோசித்தனர்.
அன்று மாலை தெனாலி அரண்மனையிலிருந்து தனது வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, தனது தோட்டத்தில் ஒரு மரத்தின் பின்னால் இரண்டு பேர் ஒளிந்து கொண்டிருப்பதைக் கவனித்தார். தெனாலி மௌனமாகி, திருடர்களுக்குப் பாடம் புகட்ட நினைத்து வீட்டுக்குள் சென்றான்.
அவர் வீட்டிற்குள் சென்றவுடன், அவர் உரத்த குரலில் கத்தினார், “கிராமத்தில் திருட்டுகள் நடக்கின்றன, எங்கள் நகைகளைப் பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும். எனவே, நகைகளை மூட்டை கட்டி கிணற்றில் விடுவோம்.
மறுபுறம், அவர் தனது மனைவியிடம் திருடன் இருப்பதைப் பற்றி அமைதியாக கிசுகிசுத்தார். தெனாலியும் அவன் மனைவியும் ஒரு இரும்பு தும்பிக்கையில் கற்களை நிரப்பி கிணற்றுக்குள் போட்டார்கள்.
பின்னர் இருவரும் வீட்டிற்குள் சென்றனர். எல்லாவற்றையும் கவனித்த திருடர்கள் கிணற்றில் இருந்து நகையை எடுக்க கிணற்றில் இருந்து தண்ணீரை ஊற்ற ஆரம்பித்தனர்.
சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து அவர்கள் களைத்துப் போனார்கள், திடீரென்று “அவ்வளவுதான் தோட்டம் பாய்ச்சப்பட்டது” என்ற குரல் கேட்டது. அதன் தெனாலி. இப்போது தெனாலிராமனின் ஞானச் செயலால் திருடர்கள் பிடிபட்டனர். அதுமட்டுமின்றி கிராமத்தில் எந்த திருட்டு சம்பவமும் நடக்கவில்லை.
