Love, goodwill, generosity, This Saint Nicholas is known for his kindness and love for children. He gives gifts to children on his feast day (December 6th). This tradition is still followed during the Christmas season. This increases the happiness of children. Santa Claus, the grandfather of Christmas, is a long white bearded grandfather who flies in a snow sleigh on Christmas Day and comes down through the chimneys of houses and gives gifts to children! We all know this.
In Syria, children believe that Santa Claus is a camel who brings gifts. When the three wise men came on camels on the night of Christ’s birth and greeted the baby Jesus, the camels became tired and fainted. Then the baby Jesus saved them and refreshed them. In England, Santa Claus has a long white beard, a red coat, and comes on a sledge pulled by reindeer with a bag of gifts. Children would hang stockings at the foot of their beds. Santa would come down the chimney and leave presents in them. This is the belief of English children.
Japanese children call Santa Claus “Hotyosho”. He has eyes behind him! This means that he can see all the children in all directions at all times!
Dutch children welcome Santa’s reindeer with carrots and hay as food.
Danish children would keep a bowl of milk and a plate of rice for their grandfather who brings them presents! (How much children love their grandfather!)
Babies often like Santa Claus because of his friendly, cheerful appearance and the joyful energy associated with him. Here are some reasons:
1. Visual Appeal
- Santa’s bright red suit, white beard, and twinkling eyes are visually stimulating and capture a baby’s attention.
- His jolly face and big smile can make him seem approachable and fun.
2.Positive Associations
- Babies pick up on the excitement and happiness of those around them during Christmas. If adults are happy to see Santa, babies might mirror that excitement.
- Santa is often associated with presents and surprises, which adds to the positive vibes.
3. Story and Magic
Even though babies don’t fully understand who Santa is, they can sense the magic and wonder he represents, especially if they’ve been exposed to Christmas stories or decorations.
4. Interaction
Many Santas in malls or at events are good at interacting with children, using gentle voices or offering playful gestures that attract babies’ attention.
