SIZE OF THE BOTTLE
- Another fact to be checked is the size of the bottle.
- Size can be chosen as per your baby’s age and appetite. As for a 3- to 6-month-old baby, you can use a blue bottle, which could be gradually increased as the baby grows and the milk consumption increases.
ANTI-COLIC FEEDING BOTTLES
- The feeding position can increase or decrease the air consumption, which get settled as gas and causes pain and other health issues.
- In order to resolve this kind of issue, anti-colic bottles are available, which is designed in such a way that air consumption is arrested, thus reducing gas issues in babies
POINTS TO BE NOTED IN USING TEATS
- Teats are the rubber parts in feeding bottles used to suck and drink milk and other liquids.
STANDARD TEATS
- These are the normal teats available. They are generally made of latex or silicone. Silicone teats are generally less flexible, but they are more durable than latex.
- But they are prone to getting damaged when using sharp objects, like babies biting with their teeth. Silicone does not retain any flavours or tastes compared to latex.
- It is advised not to use latex if babies or their parents are allergic to latex.
ORTHODONTIC TEATS
- Orthodontic teats are a special kind of teat that adjusts according to the shape of growing jaws while sucking milk, thus reducing pressure on the gums and providing a natural growing phenomenon.
ANTI-COLIC TEATS
- This kind of teat is specially designed to reduce the amount of air sucked while feeding, thus reducing tummy gas issues in babies.
SIZE OF THE TEATS
- The size of the teats is generally decided based on the age of the baby. Smaller the size lesser the amount of flow of liquid while sucking.
- So, its good to use a smaller one for newborns, as the flow of liquid is very low, drop by drop. While the baby grows, the size of the teats is also to be increased.

STERILISING BOTTLES AND TEATS
- The most important step to be followed while using feeding bottles is to sterilise them before and after each feed to ensure hygiene.
- In order to sterilise, just take a sufficient amount of hot water, drop the bottle and teats, and leave it for a few minutes, Then wash with plain water, and the bottle is ready to be fed.
- Also, the feeding bottles and teats are to be replaced with new ones at regular intervals. Electric sterilisers are also available, which can be used for the same.
